The agreement is designed to explore and develop business opportunities in defence and security programmes that require government-to-government (G2G) contracting frameworks. This approach, increasingly adopted in international defence procurement, provides enhanced transparency, institutional backing and reduced political risk for both suppliers and customer states. The partnership follows the recent designation of ALADA by Brazil’s Ministry of Defense as an authorised entity to conduct G2G negotiations on behalf of the country’s Defence Industrial Base.
Through this collaboration, Embraer will be able to offer its portfolio of defence solutions via a structured state-backed mechanism, enabling countries with G2G requirements to access advanced aerospace capabilities through official government channels. The model is expected to unlock new opportunities in markets where traditional commercial contracts are less viable due to regulatory or political constraints.
Fabio Caparica, Vice President of Contracts at Embraer Defense & Security, noted that the MoU will facilitate the identification of new business avenues, particularly in regions where sovereign-backed procurement frameworks are essential. From ALADA’s perspective, President Sergio Roberto de Almeida described the initiative as a strategic milestone, highlighting the organisation’s role in enabling a new export model for Brazilian aerospace products, services and integrated solutions.
Brazilian defence authorities have also emphasised the importance of the initiative in strengthening the country’s industrial and export capabilities. Heraldo Luiz Rodrigues, Secretary of Defense Products, underlined that G2G agreements enhance the credibility of negotiations, support the growth of the Defence Industrial Base and expand Brazil’s access to international markets.
The timing of the agreement aligns with Embraer’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in high-growth regions, particularly across Latin America and Africa. The company maintains an active dialogue with governments and defence institutions, positioning itself as a reliable partner capable of delivering modern, cost-effective solutions tailored to diverse operational requirements.
At the core of Embraer’s defence offering are platforms such as the KC-390 Millennium and the A-29 Super Tucano. The KC-390 Millennium is a next-generation multi-mission airlifter designed for tactical transport, aerial refuelling and humanitarian operations, while the A-29 Super Tucano has established itself globally as a proven platform for light attack, armed reconnaissance and advanced pilot training. Both aircraft have achieved notable export success and are in service with multiple air forces worldwide.
By integrating these platforms into a G2G framework facilitated by ALADA, the partnership introduces a more cohesive and government-supported pathway for international customers. This model not only simplifies acquisition processes but also enables broader cooperation, including training, maintenance, technology transfer and long-term support.
Beyond immediate commercial gains, the Embraer–ALADA agreement reflects Brazil’s ambition to consolidate its position as a leading exporter of aerospace and defence technologies. By aligning government institutions with industry capabilities, the country is advancing a more coordinated and competitive approach to global defence markets, reinforcing its role as a strategic partner for nations seeking reliable and scalable security solutions.
