Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Neutralise Lakurawa Terrorists, Recover Weapons and Rustled Livestock

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised several terrorists and recovered weapons and rustled livestock during ongoing offensive operations against terrorist and bandit groups in Sokoto and Katsina States.

In Sokoto State, troops responded swiftly to a distress call following an attempted attack by members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group (LTG) on a Nigerian Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wiri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area.

The troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight, neutralising two of them, while others fled the area under superior firepower. A follow-up exploitation operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.

In a separate operation in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops on fighting patrol encountered terrorists moving with herds of rustled livestock at Danya Bakwai Settlement. The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon 62 rustled animals.

The recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to their rightful owners at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia Local Government Area.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorism and banditry in the region, while urging members of the public to continue providing credible information to security forces.

The statement was issued by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army / Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
