EDGE Group and Baykar have signed two major agreements at SAHA 2026 in Istanbul, marking a significant expansion of their strategic partnership in the field of unmanned systems and precision-guided weapons.
The first contract will support the integration and demonstration of EDGE’s AL TARIQ family of precision-guided munitions on Baykar’s Bayraktar AKINCI unmanned combat aerial vehicle. The agreement was signed by Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, and Haluk Bayraktar, CEO of Baykar.
The AL TARIQ line is a mission-proven, modular family of all-weather, day-and-night, long-range precision-guided munitions. Its integration onto the AKINCI platform will provide Baykar’s UAV customers with a broader range of advanced smart weapon options, strengthening the aircraft’s role as a high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned combat system capable of conducting complex strike missions.
The Bayraktar AKINCI is one of Baykar’s most advanced unmanned aerial platforms, designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and precision strike missions. By integrating AL TARIQ munitions, the platform will gain additional operational flexibility, enabling users to conduct precision engagements against a wide range of targets while maintaining stand-off capability and mission adaptability.
A second agreement signed between the two companies establishes a wider commercial framework. Under this arrangement, EDGE and Baykar will be authorised to market and offer selected products from each other’s portfolios as part of their respective customer solutions. This opens the way for broader cross-selling opportunities and the development of integrated defence packages for international markets.
Hamad Al Marar said the partnership reflects the defence industry’s growing shift toward integrated, end-to-end solutions. He noted that combining EDGE’s proven smart weapon systems with the AKINCI UCAV demonstrates the value of collaborative innovation in delivering precision, scalability and operational flexibility across complex mission environments.
Haluk Bayraktar said the integration of different munitions onto the AKINCI platform gives users a wider range of operational options in the field. He added that the strategic collaboration with EDGE enhances the capabilities of Baykar’s platforms while strengthening the company’s global partnerships and position in the defence industry.
The agreements represent the latest step in a growing alliance between EDGE and Baykar. The cooperation follows an earlier deal to integrate EDGE’s DESERT STING 16 guided-glide weapon onto the Bayraktar TB2 UAV, further demonstrating the two companies’ shared focus on expanding precision strike capabilities for unmanned aerial systems.
For EDGE, the partnership strengthens its position as a global provider of advanced smart weapons and integrated defence technologies. For Baykar, it enhances the combat flexibility of its UAV portfolio and supports its strategy of offering customers a wider selection of mission-ready payloads and weapons.
Together, the agreements underline the increasing importance of international industrial cooperation in the unmanned systems sector, where platform manufacturers and weapons developers are working more closely to deliver complete, adaptable and export-ready solutions for modern armed forces.
