Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the wholly owned defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, and global aerospace and defence company Paramount have unveiled the Simha 4×4, a next-generation Light Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle, at the Eurosatory 2026 Defence and Security Exhibition in Paris.

Developed to meet the evolving operational requirements of armed forces across India, Africa, South Asia, and international markets, the Simha 4×4 has been designed from the ground up as a highly adaptable and mission-configurable platform. The vehicle combines advanced mobility, protection, and modularity to support a broad range of military and security missions.

The Simha 4×4 is engineered to operate effectively in both urban combat environments and challenging off-road terrain. Designed for reconnaissance, border security, internal security operations, troop transport, special operations, command-and-control missions, and force protection, the vehicle addresses the growing demand for versatile platforms capable of performing multiple roles while maintaining high levels of protection and mobility.

A key feature of the Simha 4×4 is its modular architecture, which allows users to easily customize, upgrade, and modify the vehicle according to specific operational requirements. By incorporating proven aggregates and NATO-qualified components, the platform simplifies maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes while enhancing lifecycle efficiency. This flexibility ensures that the vehicle can adapt to emerging technologies and evolving battlefield demands throughout its service life.

The development programme leveraged advanced digital engineering tools and validation processes, enabling the vehicle to be designed, tested, and brought to market in record time while maintaining rigorous quality and performance standards. According to the companies, the Simha 4×4 reflects a modern approach to defence vehicle development, where speed, adaptability, and affordability are increasingly critical factors for military procurement decisions.

Speaking at the unveiling, Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge Limited, highlighted the significance of the platform as a symbol of India’s growing defence manufacturing capabilities.

“Simha 4×4 reflects the depth of engineering and defence expertise we bring to the global stage,” he said. “Designed around NATO-qualified aggregates and engineered for rapid industrialisation, the platform demonstrates that India’s defence industry can deliver world-class solutions while supporting capability development in partner nations.”

Eric Ichikowitz, Senior Vice President of Paramount, emphasized the vehicle’s international appeal and long-term adaptability.

“Defence forces worldwide are seeking platforms that can perform multiple missions, integrate new technologies, and be produced locally,” he said. “The Simha has been designed from inception to meet those requirements, combining protection, mobility, modularity, and affordability in a highly capable package.”

Beyond its operational capabilities, the Simha 4×4 has been designed to support local industrialisation and sovereign defence production initiatives. The vehicle can be rapidly localised and manufactured in partner countries, helping governments strengthen domestic defence industries, create skilled jobs, and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.

The unveiling of the Simha 4×4 marks another milestone in the growing strategic partnership between KSSL and Paramount. As armed forces worldwide seek flexible, future-ready platforms, the new vehicle represents a compelling solution that combines proven engineering, operational versatility, and local production potential to meet the defence challenges of tomorrow.
