Military cooperation between France and Cameroon has been reinforced through the delivery of a new package of nautical and technological equipment to the Special Amphibious Battalion (BSA) during a ceremony held at the unit’s operational base in Tiko, South-West Region.

The handover included nine modern patrol boats with trailers and accessories, 18 high-powered outboard engines, and eight tactical reconnaissance drones, aimed at enhancing the battalion’s mobility, surveillance and coastal security capabilities.

Speaking during the ceremony, Navy Captain NKOTTO Petit Paul Orélien, representing Cameroon’s Ministry of Defence, praised the long-standing defence partnership between the two countries, while the French Defence Attaché reaffirmed France’s commitment to strengthening the operational, logistical and tactical capabilities of the Cameroonian Armed Forces.

The new equipment will improve riverine and maritime surveillance, support coastal interception missions, and enhance civil-military operations in remote communities. Cameroonian defence officials also expressed their appreciation to France for its continued support in strengthening the country’s defence capabilities.
