General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS) strengthened its presence in Africa by presenting the new-generation Do228 NXT at the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt and the Africa Aerospace & Defence Expo in South Africa in September 2026. Building on the Do228’s established service with more than 30 operators across nearly 20 African countries, the NXT version combines STOL performance, modern systems and multi-mission flexibility. The aircraft can support passenger and cargo transport, border and maritime surveillance, search and rescue, medical evacuation and ISR operations, making it particularly suitable for Africa’s diverse civilian, governmental and security requirements.
Mr Benjamin Schuhmann, Sales Manager at General Atomics Europe GmbH, spoke exclusively to African Security beside the Do228 NXT aircraft about the latest developments concerning the programme and the company’s growing focus on the African market.
